Day 637 Vondores Putting a Smile on a Little Girl’s Face :-)

Today the measurements were taken for the wedding dress and for a bridesmaid dress for a girl of 8. She was over the moon when she heard that she was going to have a special dress, too :-)

Day 623-634 10 Days After Being Married

It is well overdue to write. We had a lovely wedding. On Saturday (18th May) in the morning I was still sewing the belt on my dress. though. Eszter’s bridesmaid dress was done within one and a half day, super fast. The page boy’s cravat and belt at 10 o’clock in the morning on the day of the ceremony. We spent all Friday cleaning and decorating the venue. We had light blue and white balloons and paper decorations. We slept 4 hours before the wedding and became so tired by 10 in the evening, that we had no idea how we would survive the rest. But we did and got home at 4am.
Thanks to the management (Aniko Megyeri) of Breda castle (http://www.bredakastely.hu/) we were given the opportunity to take pictures in the park. After the official opening this is going to be a service they offer.

By 1pm all the guests arrived and we had a buffet: Mum’s amazing meatballs, chicken drumsticks in breadcrumbs, fried chicken thighs, potato salad and French salad.
At 3 pm we arrived to the registry office and a lovely ceremony thanks to Mrs. Piroska Haluska, who talked so nicely and softly throughout that it made us all feel so emotional. At 4pm we had the church wedding at the St. Virgin of Fatima Catholic Church, which was beautifully decorated by Barbara Kovacs. Our priest celebrated a wonderful wedding for us in all its beauty.
At 6pm we had traditional wedding dinner at the Hunting House: Chicken Soup, Pork Stew with Pasta and Potatoes, Fried Chicken and Pickles. At 10pm we cut the wedding cake, for the biggest satisfaction of the children. It was covered with light blue and white marzipan and roses. The bottom bit was punch and the top chocolate.
At midnight traditionally we had fried ‘kolbasz & hurka’ (home-made sausages and the untranslatable but extremely delicious ‘hurka’). We talked and danced until 4pm and had a really good time. The ‘keyboard-man’ made one half of the guests very happy and the rest of us went along with it.
We spent all Sunday resting in The House with The Garden, the weather was great!
On Monday we went for a pilgrimage to Maria Radna (in Lippa) Romania. http://en.mariaradna.com/ Piroska Oze organised the pilgrimage from our local church, who spent most of her summer as a child there. It was a wonderful miniature honey moon for us, where we met some really exceptional people, who told us all about life before Trianon and how their families were torn apart with the moving of the borders. Most of them have German ancestors, who lived in Arad and Banat counties before the communism and most of their children have moved to Germany since it went down. Maria Radna has been the pilgrimage of South-East Hungarian Catholics for centuries. And this tradition is starting to come back again. How wonderful that is! The well overdue renovation has already started thanks to Reinholtz András canon, who spent the last 10 years trying to attract funding for saving the building. How wonderful that is!
Vondores News: my god-daughter is getting married 15th June and I am making her dress as a wedding present :-)

Day 622 Countdown: 1 Days To Go

We had to go to the registry office and whilst we practised the ceremony, I got totally emotional. What’s going to happen on Saturday?
Eszter’s dress only needs the zip to be inserted! I can’t believe, but it is nearly ready. I felt like a seamstress, constantly pushing the pedal. Tomorrow is all about decorating the venue, yay!
