Back in October a Dear English friend joked about ‘My Big
Fat Greek Wedding’, that we Hungarians (me and my cousin) kept saying many
famous artist and scientists somehow originated from Hungary, as in the movie everything
was originated from Greece. This friend rang yesterday and told me about a book
she is reading: ‘The Great Escape: Nine Jews who Fled Hitler and Changed the
World’ by Kati Marton. Of course they were all Hungarians! Four scientists Edward
Teller, John von Neumann, Leo Szilard and Eugene Wigner, movie makers Michael
Curtiz and Alexander Korda, two photographers Robert Capa and Andre Kertesz and
a writer Arthur Koestler. They all originated from a 5 miles radius from the
Jewish quarter of Budapest. Brilliant minds! http://www.nytimes.com/2006/10/07/books/07mart.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0
