Day 84 – 85 Hungarian – Turanian Ornaments and the Prototyping Process of Vondores Bags

Finally I have done some practical work on the MA. I got all the bolts and screws out of my boxes and made various mock ups of the felted bag. Thank God I bought all that stuff when I was doing my BA final project, they came very handy. The bag ideas are overall funky and the bolts gave a unique twist to the concept. I also made some felt, which is dripping the excess water at the moment on one of my flatmates` bike. I`ve got this amazing book the History of the Hungarian Turanian Ornaments by Jozsef Huszka, which was first published in 1929. I had some leftover fine merino wool from BA as well and used it to for some further sampling. The local wool I cleaned during the summer needs more time to felt than the merino wool. I am trying to be practical here and use both the materials and my time wisely. I`ve been trying to find some thin copper sheets I had for textile design, but I must have used them all ages ago. Yes, I remember now I have sold some textile pictures when I had the exhibition with Paula in Guildford and the copper sheets must be hanging on people`s walls impersonating flowers and landscapes. I would love to make some more textile arts. After I finish the thesis. This sentence: `After I finish the thesis.` has become my slogan. I sound like a CD stuck on song one. It is a bit like putting the rest of my life on hold until 7th December.

This morning started with a nice surprise. I thought I had to go to uni, but it is only next week, so I saved myself around 3 hours on the bus. I had so much fun today being creative. Having limited amount of time just makes me even more inventive in technical methods and less perfectionist, which is a good thing.

I am so excited about the Vondores bag designs!
